LP Passes Vote of Confidence on Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee, Extends Olive Branch to Aggrieved Members

The Labour Party has passed a vote of Confidence on the Senator Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee of the party.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC), meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, members of the NEC, including Comrade Joe Ajero of the Nigerian Labour Congress and representatives of the Trade Union Congress.

The NEC reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of internal democracy and accountability, while addressing the leadership challenges that have recently beset the party, emphasizing the need for adherence to constitutional provisions and the rule of law.

In line with this, the NEC passed a vote of confidence in the National Caretaker Committee, recognizing their dedication to steering the party through this transitional period. The committee was resolute in their mission to organize credible congresses and National Convention that will reflect the true will of our members.

The communique also extended hand of fellowship to all aggrieved members of the party to join hands in rebuilding the party.

“Furthermore, we extend an olive branch to all aggrieved members, urging them to join hands with us in rebuilding the Labour Party into a formidable force that truly represents the aspirations of the Nigerian people”.

“We acknowledge the invaluable support of the NLC and TUC in this journey and look forward to continued collaboration to strengthen our party’s foundations.”

“Together, we can overcome our challenges and emerge stronger, united in our commitment to social justice, equity, and the betterment of Nigeria.”
