In a move aimed at boosting academic research and promoting institutional growth, the Abia State Ministry of Tertiary Education has announced plans to establish a Research Hub at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic’s Osisioma Campus.

The Rector of the institution, Engnr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, disclosed the cheering news on Tuesday during a meeting with the Polytechnic’s management team. This briefing came just days after he updated the team on the ongoing projects at the campus.

According to Prof. Okoro, the Ministry has allocated funds for the Research Hub and has pledged to furnish campus buildings already awarded.

He revealed that the Ministry would also contribute to the construction of internal roads to further strengthen campus infrastructure.

The Rector also disclosed plans to establish a Demonstration School for staff children, which will provide education from crèche to secondary school level.

On academic matters, Prof. Okoro issued clear directives to staff responsible for student records, mandating that all outstanding results be uploaded immediately and that certificates for graduating students be ready by Monday. “We cannot make policies that move the Polytechnic forward while others frustrate the process,” he stressed.

Highlighting the Polytechnic’s priorities for the year, Prof. Okoro stated that the full transition to the Osisioma Campus remains the institution’s key development focus.

He concluded by thanking the management team for their dedication and expressing optimism for a year that will surpass past achievements.
