Ohafia Youths Slam Orji Kalu, Declare Him Persona Non Grata

The Ohafia Youth Association in Abia State has condemned in strong terms, a statement credited to the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, describing Ohafia as an IPOB zone.

In a statement jointly signed by their Chairman, Mr Obasi Kalu Obasi and the Secretary, Mr Onyekachi U. Uduma, the youth described the statement as an egregious statement, which was manifestly motivated by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu’s self-serving interests, bereft of any consideration for the general welfare of Abia North or Nigeria as a whole.

The statement, dated January 19, 2026 declared Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu henceforth persona non grata in Ohafia, adding that they shall not brook his presence in their midst.

“We, the Ohafia Youth Association, do hereby denounce in the strongest terms possible this egregious statement, which was manifestly motivated by Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu’s self-serving interests, bereft of any consideration for the general welfare of Abia North or Nigeria as a whole. This calumnious remark hath wrought grievous harm upon our community, causing investors to flee our land and resulting in the disenfranchisement of over 100,000 of our people, who were prevented from exercising their fundamental right to suffrage in the 2023 election”.

“We, therefore, sound a clear and solemn warning that Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu is henceforth persona non grata in Ohafia, and we shall not brook his presence in our midst”.

According to the angry youths, “This odious characterization hath brought opprobrium and ignominy upon our venerable clan, exposing us to unwelcome scrutiny and censure from the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

The statement urged the general public to disregard the statement in its entirety, adding that, “the people of Ohafia, renowned for their warmth, hospitality, and peaceful disposition, shall not countenance such egregious affronts to our good name and shall take all necessary measures to safeguard our reputation and protect our interests”.

“We shall not be swayed from our resolve to defend our honor and protect our community from calumny and detraction”.
