RIVERS CRISIS: FUBARA ADDRESSES RIVERS PEOPLE

The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has called on the people of Rivers state to remain peaceful and law abiding while other relevant avenues are explored to ensure a lasting solution to the long political battle that has plagued the state.

Fubara made the call in an address to the citizens on Wednesday. This is coming on the heels of the controversial state of emergency rule pronounced by President Bola Tinubu in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday night.

According to Fubara, Rivers people have always been resilient people, he is optimistic that they would face the situation gallantly.

“At this critical time, I urge all Rivers people to remain peaceful and law-abiding. We will engage with all relevant institutions to ensure that our democracy remains strong and that Rivers State continues to thrive.”

The governor who acknowledged the intervention of the president previously regretted that the state House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule frustrated every effort made to resolve the political disagreement.

“Unfortunately, at every turn, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly frustrated our efforts, thus making genuine peace and progress difficult.”
