Abia State Government Rolls Out 25-Year Development Plan For Aba

The Abia State Government has announced plans to launch a 25-year Greater Aba Master Plan.

The Commissioner for Information in the state, Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday. According to the commissioner, the plan a a policy document aimed at transforming Aba into a model commercial city.

Prince Kanu said it was part of the outcomes of this week’s State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Otti on Monday.

The statement further explained that the plan was developed in partnership with Greater Aba Development Authority and the UN-Habitat. It said the plan revolves around four strategic pillars: road infrastructure and connectivity, economic development with emphasis on industrial zones and commercial hub upgrades, sustainable urban expansion and resilience against flooding, a long standing challenge in the area.
