Christmas: Sir Emmanuel Otti Highlights The Power Of Songs of Praise

The Labour Party Chairman in Abia State, Sir Emmanuel Otti has urged the Christian faithful to always prioritize the worship of God in their lives, especially, through songs and praises.

Sir Otti made the call at the weekend during a Carol of Nine Lessons organized in his residence in Aba on Saturday to mark the beginning of the yuletide, anchored by St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral Aba.

Speaking at the event, Sir Otti who took the first lesson, reminded Christians of the news to extend love and compassion to everyone because according to him, love is the reason for the season.

He commended the St. Michael’s Anglican Cathedral Choir for their melodious renditions of the Christmas carols, adding that the sky would be their beginnings.

The Choir Chaplain, Rev. Canon Okwuchukwu Bethel charged Christians to deploy the lessons of Christmas in their daily living in order to reap the benefits of the death and resurrection of Christ.

Taking his text from the Gospel of Luke chapter 2 from verse 8 to14, Canon Okwuchukwu highlighted some of the lessons to include; humility, simplicity, love and kindness, pointing out the humble birth of Christ in a manger and the simple life he lived.

“One of the lessons is love and kindness. The Bible says in John, for God so loved the world, that he gives His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have what? Have an everlasting life. Because of the kindness of God, He gave us Jesus.”

“Number two is humanity and simplicity. Jesus humbled himself. Jesus was born in a manger. For us to be rich. Listen to me. Any man who doesn’t humble himself, will not inherit heaven. Jesus, being son of God, being God himself, brought himself down, for you and I, to be rich.To be wealthy, that’s why today you are riding the cars you are riding.”

He concluded by encouraging the people to give their lives to Christ as a way of showing gratitude for what God has done for them.
