NDC Aspirant Urges Patience as Party Delays Release of Primary Results, Backs Obi’s ‘New Nigeria’ Vision

Dr. Ugochukwu Anokwuru Okoji, House of Representatives aspirant for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on party aspirants and stakeholders to remain patient and trust the leadership of the party amid delays in announcing primary election results.
In a press statement issued over a week after NDC conducted its primaries, Dr. Okoji said the wait should not dampen confidence in the party. He urged unity and commitment to the collective goal of building what he described as “a New Nigeria.”
“The journey toward the realization of a New Nigeria will not be easy. However, one thing is certain: Mr. Peter Obi and the party leadership are working tirelessly to make this vision a reality,” he said.
The lecturer and former Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo linked the delay to wider resistance against the Obi-led movement. He claimed forces are working to frustrate the emergence of the “New Nigeria” agenda, citing recent crises in the Labour Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other platforms.
“It is important to recall that several forces are determined to frustrate the emergence of the New Nigeria movement championed by Mr. Peter Obi,” Okoji said. “Likewise, members of the political elite who benefit from the current system are doing everything possible to preserve the status quo.”
He threw his weight behind the NDC leadership led by Senator Seriake Dickson, saying this was not the time for doubt but for solidarity.
“This is therefore not the time to doubt the party leadership, ably led by His Excellency, Senator Seriake Dickson, and his team. Rather, it is a time for unity, patience, and unwavering commitment to the collective goal of building a better Nigeria,” he added.
Dr. Okoji, who is also President of the Pan-Igbo Youth Movement, concluded: “Together, we shall overcome these challenges and remain focused on the mission of delivering a New Nigeria for all.”
NDC is yet to officially release the list of candidates that emerged from its May 29, 2026 primaries.
