US BASED NIGERIAN WOMAN PETITIONS EGBETOKUN, SEEKS PROTECTION FROM KINSMEN

A US based Nigerian woman, Onyinye Ibe (Formerly Onyinye Urum) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over a likely attack on her farm, Do Good Piggery, located in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

Onyinye through her council, Henry Ojiegbe requested Egbetokun to intervene in order to protect lives and property, as the threat of attack on the farm, if carried out may lead to loss of lives.

Speaking with Dreamnews on this development, Onyinye, who has been in the United States of America for over thirty years said she established the farm in 2023, with the view to help her siblings and kinsmen through job and wealth creation.

“This is what I decided to do. I thought I could be more beneficial to them than coming home. Because I value myself, I know my value”.

She has been supportive of his people by way of sending palliatives, payment of hospital bills and lots of philantropic gesture. Onyinye said she had invested over two hundred million naira (N200 million) on the farm as it has different departments including vegetables section, cassava among others without collecting a penny as profit since the farm was established.

According to her, trouble started on 24th January, 2025, when one of the employees of the farm, Joseph Urum fell sick and was taken to the hospital. At first, Joseph was first taken to a private clinic in Umuahia, Essential Hospital in Uyo Street, Umuahia where he was rejected for unexplained reasons. She said she put calls across from her base in the US to the doctor who never picked his calls until the next day when the sick Joseph had been taken to another hospital.

Onyinye said Joseph was later taken to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Umuahia where he was also rejected but was referred to another private hospital in Mbaise, Imo State, where they arrived at about 3am. Joseph was booked for surgery after the doctor diagnosed hernia and the surgery came off successful.

Then, two days later, there was a twist as Joseph became sick again and eventually died before anything could be done.

Upon the death of Joseph, his family accused the farm manager, Pastor Ejemole Ukaegbu, who took Joseph to the hospital of being responsible for his death.

They went ahead to report to the police in Abiriba Division and Pastor Ejemole Ukaegbu and two other workers on the farm, Oko Ukaegbu and Maduka Bassey were arrested on allegation of being responsible for the death of Joseph.

As at the time of this reports the trio are still in detention.

From what we gathered, the case was also reported to the traditional ruler of Abiriba, the Enachioken who sealed the farm but for the intervention of people, he reopened it so the pigs won’t die off.

Then, there was a new dimension to the story as the villagers posted on their village Whatsapp group that Onyinye murdered Joseph to harvest his kidney for organ transplant for her son. The post said she came back to Umuahia for that purpose.

They called a doctor to inspect the remains of Joseph to verify if his organ was missing but the doctor on getting to the mogue at Madona Hospital Mortuary Umuahia said he won’t perform the task for fear of litigation as according to him he had no permission for such.

Ever since, there have been threats to attack the farm and unleash mayhem.

She called on the Inspector General of Police as a matter of urgency intervene in order to nib bloodletting in the bud.
