GOVERNOR NWIFURU CHARGES SEDC TO PRIORITIZE PEOPLE ORIENTED PROJECTS
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has urged members of the South East Development Commission, SEDC, to prioritise projects that will drive rapid development in the region.
He made this call while receiving members of the commission at his office in Centenary City, Abakaliki, on Tuesday.
He stated that the establishment of the commission by the Federal Government marked the fulfilment of the dreams of the region’s leaders and people. He urged members to avoid frivolities and instead work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them.
This was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor.
The governor expressed confidence in the calibre of individuals appointed as members of the commission and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its establishment.
He called on governors from the region to create an enabling environment and collaborate with the Commission to foster development.
Earlier, the Managing Director of SEDC, Mark Okoye, represented by the Executive Director of Commerce and Industrial Development, Sen. Anthony Agbo, said the commission is fostering partnerships among South East states to harmonise policies, pool resources, and build a solid asset base.
The chairman of SEDC, Dr Emeka Wogu, assured that the commission would bridge the region’s significant development gap and position it for sustainable progress.
