ABIA GOVERNMENT CANCELS APRIL SANITATION EXERCISE

The Abia State government has announced cancellation of the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of April to enable candidates continue with the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Commissioner for Environment in the state, Philimon Ogbonna disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

“The Abia State Government wishes to inform the general public, especially residents across the state, that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, has been cancelled.”

“This decision is to enable candidates participating in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to freely access their examination centers without restriction.”

The statement encouraged Abia residents to take personal responsibility in cleaning their homes, surroundings, gutters, and drainage systems closest to them, adding that a clean and healthy environment remains a collective responsibility.

It further expressed appreciation to Abians for their usual cooperation.

“We remind the public that maintaining a clean environment is essential to promoting good health and preventing disease outbreaks.”
