Promise Fulfilled: Governor Otti Begins Road Network In Dr Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic

Road construction work has fully commenced inside the main campus of Dr Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba. This is in fulfillment of the promise of Governor Alex Otti to construct the internal roads within the campus.

Speaking to newsmen in Aba during an inspection tour of the road construction, the Rector of the institution, Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro appreciated the governor for keeping to his word while expressing satisfaction with the quality of work going on.

Dr Okoro who led journalists to some of the roads under construction said Dr Alex Otti is out to make the institution the envy of other states and to give students an environment they can be proud of.

Flanked by his management staff, Dr Okoro recalled that the campus had never experienced it this good since inception. According to him, it was during the last convocation of the institution that the Governor, Dr Alex Otti made a promise to construct the internal roads in the campus.

He said, “As you can see, a lot of jobs are being done here in the Polytechnic courtesy of God’s gift to ndi Abia, His Excellncy, Dr. Alex, Chioma Otti, who during the last convocation of this Polytechnic promised that he was going to start the construction, just mark it, construction and not the reconstruction. There is a difference between construction and reconstruction. Reconstruction means that something has been done before, and then you now want to enhance what was done. This is construction.This road has not been constructed for the first time. His Excellency gave a promise to construct routes on this particular campus. Of course, you can see that the work is ongoing.”

A sweep around the area showed that the drainage system had already been done while the earth work had also commenced.

According to him, the governor said he would want to deliver the roads as a gift to the school in this year’s convocation ceremony, which is likely to happen as promised by the governor.

“They started about a month ago, and then as I said today, they completed the water ways. And then they started the earth work presently. In line with His Excellency’s promise to the institution during the last year’s convocation. In fact, he made it very clear that by the time he was coming for this year’s convocation that this road ought to be ready”.

He went on a litany of other projects done by the Dr Alex Otti led government in Abia State which has changed the narrative of the institution.
