Prof. Eme Inspects Projects At Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Osisioma Campus, Applauds Rector

‎The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Eme Uche Eme, inspected the ongoing construction of the first phase of the 5,000-capacity female and male hostel and other projects at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Osisioma Campus on Wednesday.

‎The inspection was conducted alongside the Rector of the institution, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, members of the Governing Council, management team, and Academic Board.

The visit was aimed at assessing the level of work done as part of efforts to ensure the early commencement of academic activities at the campus.

‎Expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, Prof. Eme commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, describing him as a results-oriented leader and a history maker.

She noted that the visible transformation at the campus reflects the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

‎“The first time we visited this campus, many facilities were abandoned. Today, we have witnessed extensive construction, reconstruction, and painting of several buildings within a short period,” she stated.

‎The Commissioner further disclosed that the Governor has expansive plans for Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic and other tertiary institutions across the state, assuring that the government understands the needs of the institutions and is working deliberately to address them.

‎She reiterated the state government’s resolve to strengthen technical education through skill acquisition and quality delivery, emphasizing the administration’s focus on practical and industry-driven training.

Prof. Eme also laid a foundation at the campus and praised the quality of fabricated works produced by the institution’s students.

‎The commissioner also expressed delight at the reforms introduced by the management, particularly the elimination of sorting and exploitation, which she said has created a more enabling learning environment for students. She stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring adequate admission and accommodation for students.

‎During the visit, Prof. Eme also inspected the ongoing construction of the library complex, School of Business Studies, medical building, and the Administrative Complex.

‎In his remarks, the Rector, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, expressed gratitude to the Alex Otti-led administration for its continued support to the institution.

He also announced the approval of a new salary structure for staff, disclosing that implementation and payment would commence next week.
