Governor Otti Performs Foundation Laying Ceremony For New Hostels At Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has performed the foundation laying ceremony for male and female hostels, a TETFund 2025 project, at the Osisioma campus of the Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education in the state, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, Governor Otti inspected ongoing construction of the first phase of the 5,000-Capacity male and female hostel and other projects at the Osisioma Campus of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba.

Speaking during the inspection tour, the commissioner said the visit was aimed at assessing the level of work done as part of efforts to ensure the early commencement of academic activities on the campus.

Prof. Uche commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for the transformation work going on at the site, describing him as a results-oriented leader and a history maker, while expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work going on.

She noted that the visible transformation at the campus reflects the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

‎“The first time we visited this campus, many facilities were abandoned. Today, we have witnessed extensive construction, reconstruction, and painting of several buildings within a short period,” she stated.

‎The Commissioner further disclosed that the Governor has expansive plans for Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic and other tertiary institutions across the state, assuring that the government understands the needs of the institutions and is working deliberately to address them.

‎She reiterated the state government’s resolve to strengthen technical education through skill acquisition and quality delivery, emphasizing the administration’s focus on practical and industry-driven training.

The commissioner also commended the Rector of the institution, Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro and the management team for the reforms introduced, particularly the elimination of sorting and exploitation, which she said has created a more enabling learning environment for students.

Reacting, the Rector of Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic, Engnr Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro applauded Governor Alex Otti for his continued support and commitment to the well-being of staff and students of the school.
