Abam Aglow As Governor Otti Commissions Omenuko Bridge

The good people of Abam Onyerubi have expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti over the construction of the popular Omenuko bridge and the Ndi Okereke Abam-Arochukwu road, scheduled for commissioning on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The entire clan is agog in preparation for the momentous commissioning of both projets by Dr Alex Otti on Friday.

A sweep across the clan shows enthusiasm and high spirits as the people await the formal inauguration of the projects.

In separate interviews, prominent sons of Abam, including Chief James Ume, the Rector of Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic, Prof. Christopher Kalu Okoro, former member who represented Arochuchukwu state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Luke Ukara and the member representing Arochuchukwu state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, extolled Dr Alex Otti for remembering the people who have suffered so much as a result of the terrible condition of the road and the bridge.

Chief James Ume, popularly known as Ike Abam, described the Omenuko bridge as a death trap, but expressed delight that the administration of Governor Alex Otti came to their rescue, adding that the reconstruction of the bridge was a life saving venture of the governor.

“Before now, lives were lost on that bridge, many lives. People find it difficult to access Abam due to fear of plying that road. But today, that is history. Our people are happy. It is a life saving venture of the state government under the leadership of Dr Alex Otti, OFR.”

For Prof. Christopher Kalu Okoro, the governor came as a saviour. According to him, the governor did not just build a bridge, he reclaimed forgotten people.

The Omenuko bridge he said was a shame to the state, not just to the people of Arochuchukwu local government area.

The Omenuko bridge was a shame to Abia State. Could you imagine that such a historic place existed for many years and the state government could not build it.

We heard of the “mommy water” myth, but today, the so called “mommy water” has been defeated and an ultra modern bridge is sitting above the water.

“We can’t thank Dr Alex Otti enough for what he has done. He did what three governors could not do. He has turned back mommy water”.

On his part, the former member who represented Arochuchukwu state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Luke Ukara commended the governor and congratulated Ndi Abam on the commissioning of the project. He expressed confidence that the governor would return in 2027.

Also speaking, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, who is the member representing Arochuchukwu state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, said the project came at a time when the people of Abam and Abia needed it most, commending Governor Otti for the job well done.

He posited that the people of Abam would cue up for him in 2027.
