ABIA: GOV OTTI SPREADS ROADS ACROSS THE STATE

Governor Otti of Abia State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to do things differently and maintain high standards in the scheme of things in the state.
Otti stated this on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the inauguration of the newly reconstructed 46.36km Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Alayi–Abiriba Highway at Unity Church Uzuakoli, Bende Local Government Area.

He emphasized that the road would not only reduce travel time but also enhance security, improve the movement of agricultural produce, reduce food costs, and boost economic activities across communities in Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umuahia North Local Government Areas. He renamed the road “Joe Irukwu Way” in honour of the late Prof. Joe Irukwu.

Speaking at the event, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, lauded Governor Alex Otti for his stella leadership and performance, describing him as a transformational figure whose impact is felt across the state.

He acknowledged the previous deplorable state of the road and extolled Governor Otti for delivering such a strategic project, which he said reflects integrity, quality leadership, and vision. He further urged Abians to continue to support the Governor and not to “change a winning horse.”

Contributing, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, and Chief Chukwuma Azodo of the Cooperatives Union Abia State highlighted the economic benefits and improved driving conditions the road will bring, while the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, explained the breakdown of the project and urged communities to safeguard the infrastructure.

Several dignitaries including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Hon. Obi Aguocha, Senator Chris Adighije, Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi, and other stakeholders praised the Governor for what they termed a signature project that has restored pride and dignity to the people.

The commissioning was attended by a cross-section of traditional rulers, clergy, political leaders, senior government officials, and stakeholders from the benefiting local governments.
