RIVERS CRISIS: HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY LOCKS FUBARA OUT.

The Martin Amaewhule led Rivers State House of Assembly denied Governor Siminalayi Fubara entry to House as he came to re-present the 2025 budget as ordered by the Supreme Court.

The assembly complex gate was locked and efforts to enter the building was denied by Martin Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers assembly, which is loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

The Governor said, “I am here personally, this morning with a few members of the State Executive Council, to comply with the Supreme Court judgement.

“Before my arrival, I had already made several attempts by phone calls to reach the Speaker and other members. I also did a letter personally, which was transmitted to the Hon Speaker for this particular invitation.

“But it’s unfortunate that at the gate, as you can see, that the place is completely sealed and there is no sign that anything is going to happen today.

“The reason why we are doing this, I have already said it, is the interest of Rivers people, which is the most important thing.

“Well, I don’t think there is anything to worry about. Maybe, they are working on my letter, I expect to hear from them may be after this hour.”

Fubara stated earlier that he would agree to the resolution of the SP which reinstated the 27 lawmakers.

The lawmakers had, last week given 48 hours ultimatum to the Governor to re-present the 2025 Budget and also sacked the local government Chairmen for lack of proper procedures
