Abia CSR Team Seeks Companies’  Investment in Community Development Projects

Led by Dr. John Nwadighoha, the team aims to promote CSR awareness and implementation among companies operating in the state.

The CSR Team, under the Abia State Policy Innovation Centre, has already generated a database of over 75 companies and is engaging with them (companies), including banks, communication companies, and medium-sized businesses, to develop projects benefiting both the businesses and host communities.

Such projects include building ICT centers, classroom blocks, sinking boreholes and providing street lights, among others.

“We encourage companies to partner with the government in developing the state,” Nwadighoha said during an interview with Thisday newspapers in Umiahis.

“Our role is to liaise between companies and the state government, promoting CSR awareness and implementation,” he added.

He also hinted that the team was planing to recognize and give awards to companies demonstrating excellent CSR practices.

Nwadighoha emphasized that CSR is not just about companies; communities also have a role in securing facilities and demanding development projects.

He said the team works with traditional rulers and community development officials to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.

“The initiative aims to foster a culture of corporate social responsibility, enhancing Abia State’s development and prosperity,” he said.
