Lawmaker Delivers 235 Solar Powered Street Lights To Ohafia Community
The member representing Ohafia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke has called on the people of the area to take responsibility and protect public infrastructure situated in their locality.
Hon. Mba Nwoke gave the charge on Thursday in Asaga Ohafia local government area of Abia State, while speaking to newsmen shortly after taking delivery of 235 solar powered street lights by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, attracted by him for the people of the area.
According to him the 235 sets of the solar street lights are part of many NDDC assisted projects, adding that a second batch would arrive by April 2026.
He said the move is aimed at lighting up rural communities to enhance economic activities and curb minor social vices that take place especially at night.
He assured the people of more developmental gestures, hinting that in the coming weeks he would commission a town hall he built for the people of Eziafor community in Ohafia while appreciating the people for their continued support.
“This is just the first batch of solar street lights, there 235 of them for Asaga. Between now and April, we will have another one for other areas”.
“I attracted them through the NDDC and I will continue to explore our other avenues to develop our place”.
*In the next few days, we will commission another multimillion naira project at Eziafor, it is 95% completed, a town hall which is what they requested”.
“It is “operation light up Ohafia” and we will continue to do more”.
