The Nationwide Agricultural Mechanized Corpoeative of Nigeria Limited (NAMCON) has expressed its willingness in collaborating with the Abia State Government to strengthen Agricultural mechanisation and enhance food production across the state.

The proposal was presented during a meeting between a joint delegation of NAMCON and Zoomlion Group and the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, FCIB, alongside the management of the Ministry of Agriculture in Umuahia.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NAMCON, Dr. Aminu Ikoojo Abdulkadir, said the initiative aims to make Agriculture attractive to youths, improve productivity, and ensure farmers receive premium value for their produce. He commended the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, OFR, for providing purposeful governance in the state.

Dr. Abdulkadir disclosed that the partnership would involve the establishment of 13 Agricultural mechanisation centres across Abia State, equipped with modern farming machinery and support facilities, with focus on crops such as cassava, Rice and other crops where the state has comparative advantage. He noted that the programme would create jobs, reduce poverty and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.

He added that Zoomlion Group, one of the world’s leading Agricultural and heavy equipment manufacturers, is NAMCON’s Chinese technical partner on the project and will provide modern Tractors and Agricultural machinery to ensure efficient and sustainable mechanised farming.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, FCIB, said the proposal aligns with the Agricultural development vision of His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, OFR, and assured the delegation that the state government would give the proposal careful consideration.
